If you are a women in America or anywhere in the world you are put under a microscope and told how you are supposed to look. You can't be too fat but don't be too skinny either, you can't have stretch marks or any hair on you body boys don't like that, you have to have blonde hair and blue eyes to be beautiful, you can't be too short but men don't like girls who are taller than them, and if you don't look like the celebs that you see on the TV then you aren't pretty enough. Many teen girls face these stereotypes every single day. Some teen girls even go as far are starving themselves to be what the world views as beautiful.
98% of teen girls believe that there is pressure from external sources to look a certain way. 92% of teen girls want to change something about themselves. 90% of teen girls develop eating disorders due to them believing they must look a certain way. The way the that beauty standard are in America and all over the world are forcing girls to change into people they aren't and forcing them to feel unsatisfied about the way they look or the way they were born. Most of the teen girls I know are insecure about their physical looks whether it is a certain thing or how they look in general. Along with that many boys judging a way a girl looks or rating a girl on how she looks can harm the girls mental health and the way she views herself. If one person on the internet called a girl ugly she would feel ugly for the rest of her life.
Most teens are insecure because they believe being "beautiful" mean to have "perfect" skin, "perfect" hair, "perfect" smile, a "perfect" body, and a "perfect" personality. But here is what the definition of being pretty actually is "attractive in a delicate way without being truly beautiful or handsome." But here is what being pretty or beautiful is to me. Being pretty or beautiful means being yourself. It means looking they way you were made and not judging yourself based on what you see on the internet. Teen girls need to remember that what they see on the internet can be edited, it can be covered up with tons of makeup, or they could be sucking in. You need to remember that everything you see on the internet isn't real and that everyone is perfect in their own way no matter how they may look.
