Why Sirius Black Shouldn't Have Died?

    In the book Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, we go through a tragic death for Harry Potter, his godfather Sirius Black. This is a key point to the story and how Harry grows up but this incident could have been prevented and not in the way many people think. Keep in mind this is only talking about the book and not the movie because it differs a lot more in the book. 

    Let’s start with the facts of how he dies. They are in the department of mysteries fighting many death eaters to get the prophecy between Harry and Lord Voldermort. During this battle, Sirius has a head to head battle with his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange. On page 805 it states, “Harry saw Sirius duck Bellatrix’s jet of red light: He was laughing at her. “Come on you can do better than that!” he yelled his voice echoing around the cavernous room. The second jet of light hit him squarely on the chest.” In this quote, we learn one big point about his death. He did not die to Avada Kedavra but he died to the simple spell of Stupefy. This is the exact reason right at this moment I cannot come to terms with his death. We know that he didn’t die to Avada Kedavra because in every other scene Avada Kedavra is used it is a blast of green light and not red. Also, right before he dies she is using the spell Stupefy and when using Avada Kedavra you must say the spell named Bellatrix doesn’t. 

    The actual way we know he is dead dead is after he falls through the veil in the department of mysteries. So let’s say this battle between cousins is happening outside the department of mysteries and just in the streets of London. That simple spell of Stupify would not have killed him and SIRIUS BLACK WOULD STILL BE ALIVE. So rather than it being Dumbledores’ fault like he says in the book it is Bellatrix and the veil. Obviously, a big fact is this wouldn’t happen if they didn’t go to the department of mysteries but if you think about it, Harry his GODSON was concerned for his safety so he decided to go. Along with it being Harry’s choice to go to the department of mysteries, it was also Sirius’s choice. He was told to stay at home by members of the order but he still decided to go after being told not to because he needs to fight and has been trapped in a house full of bad memories for MONTHS. 

    Let’s move on from the facts and move onto the reason he should still be alive for my well being. HIM HARRY AND REMUS COULD HAVE A HAPPY LIFE. (yes I ship Sirius and Remus fight me if you don’t) After 12 years in Azkaban, he could finally have the life he wants with the last Marauder (except gross Peter) and his godson. He could get his ass out of number 12 Grimmauld Place and to a new nice home with Harry and Sirius where Hermione and Ron can hang out at, maybe somewhere in the country. Also if he didn’t die he could go and get cleared after the war for all the charges that were placed on him and he could become a free man again. 

    Along with that he could even go to Professor McGonagall and get a job at Hogwarts. He could teach a class or just help students and just live a nice happy life. He could also be able to roam the streets without being arrested. Also, he could live up to his promise he made Harry in Prisoner of Azkaban about him getting out of the Dursleys and living with him. Even though this would take place after the second war he would still live with him for a little while before he and Ginny have enough money for their own house. Also, Sirius could help him get a job and get some money to get a house. ALSO, HE COULD BE A GREAT GRANDFATHER FIGURE FOR HARRY'S KIDS!!!!!!! Like they grow up with no grandparents but if he had lived they would have a grandparent (Blah blah I know now by blood but whatever but he is basically a father to harry and you cannot deny that) Sirius could also teach harry more about his father and the Marauders. 

    Ok now let’s get to Remus and Sirius. (also for a glimpse of my mind Remus and Tonks are just friends after Sirius escapes) They would finally act on the feeling they have had for each other since they were in school. During school, they definitely like each other and in Prisoner of Azkaban, it shows that when they meet face to face again. When they meet again Sirius acts as if they are old friends who they are. ALSO, they act as if they are old married husbands when they meet again. What I’m saying is after the second war they should get married. NO, AFTER HE GETS OUT OF AZKABAN THEY SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MARRIED AND LIVED A HAPPY LIFE WITH HARRY. 

    After he dies and falls through the veil imagine how mad James and Lily are. Afterall Sirius was the last living family member of Harrys and when he fell through the veil he left Harry alone. Of course, Harry had the Weasleys and Lupin but he felt a strong connection to Sirius and he loved Sirius enough that he couldn’t even admit he was dead until they got back to Hogwarts. But I can imagine when James Lily and Sirius reunite James is happy to see his best friend but Lily is pissed that he left Harry all alone feeling like he has no support, especially after Dumbledore told him he is basically meat waiting for himself to die or Lord Voldermort to die. Lily is up in heaven pissed at Dumbledore and Sirius. I can just imagine her whacking Sirius over the head as Harry mopes around the castle knowing that his godfather is gone and that he may have to die. LILY WOULD BE PISSED THAT HE HAS TO GO THROUGH THAT WITH NOBODY KNOWING HOW HE FEELS.  

    ALSO, let’s talk about Remus Lupin for a second here. HE COULD NOT MOURN THE DEATH OF THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE BECAUSE HE WAS MAKING SURE HARRY WAS ALRIGHT. Poor Remus just watched the man he loved die and go through the veil only to have to consol the son of his other two DEAD best friends. Give this man a break first he had to quit being a teacher after people realize he is a werewolf. Then he has to live with the fact that even though he was a best friend of Lily and James he still comes second in Harry’s life to Sirius maybe even third to the Weasleys. You can tell he loves Harry more than he loves himself and you can tell he cares for the boy and wants the best for him but he still is second or third in Harry’s life. FINALLY, HE HAS TO HOLD BACK HIS FEELINGS WHEN SIRIUS DIES TO MAKE SURE HARRY IS ALRIGHT. Like honestly he has lost everyone he is close to James, Lily, Peter betrayed him, and now Sirius to add onto that everyone helped him when he was a werewolf at school they helped him through it. So now he has no one; none of his best friends are alive or friends with him anymore. 

    In conclusion WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY. The next two books could have happened differently if he had lived. Harry would have had support all the way through the second war. Sirius would become a free man and live a happy life. Remus poor baby Remus would still have his best friend and love of his life around. So really why JKR WHYYYYY. (Enjoy my rant)
